The end of another great year

With less than 6 weeks left in 2023, I have been reflecting on the year, the highs and the lows, as well as how I want 2024 to play out. When I look back on my 2023 goals I wrote about here, I accomplished a few and fell way short on others.

The highlights of the year have been many. One photo of mine was selected to be in an exhibit at my local art museum, and another photo was selected to be on display at a local church. The local photography club monthly photo contests have been a fun, challenging, frustrating learning experience. In the 10 months that have been judged, I forgot a deadline one month and then did not submit any black and white photos for another month. That said, I am currently in 9th place overall in the group. I have placed in 1st place 3 times, in 3rd place once, and have had many honorable mentions. This month’s results should be posted in a handful of days, and then December’s competition will be for all the photos that placed over the course of the year.

I traveled a decent amount this year, not as much as I have in the past, but Chattanooga, Colorado Springs, Asheville, Kauai, and Scotland was a packed year. The one exclusion this year was the Texas roadtrip I have been talking about for years. It was on the calendar, but work trumped it and it got pushed back.

Coming soon will be my favorite pictures I took in 2023. I will try to keep it down to 12 like last year, but I cannot promise anything. Scotland might actually take up 10 of those.

And speaking of coming soon, there will be posts concerning my friends and family calendar for 2024. They’ll be delivered or mailed in the next week or so. There will also be a 2024 goals post, the galleries and portfolio will be updated, the entire website will likely get updated since it seems I cannot seem to do that until the end of each year. Stick around to see what’s next!
