2024 plans and goals

2023 disappeared in the blink of an eye. When I look back, I feel as though I didn't do as much as I did in 2022, but after closer inspection, I had another prolific year with the camera. I achieved some of my goals, and fell short on others. Overall, 2023 worked out well without really trying too hard.

In 2024, I'll keep some of my core goals such as create a yearly calendar, continue my editing and composition education, and continue to submit photos for the local photography club's monthly contests. To add to those, I want to make a photo book. Perhaps one of Huntsville and the surrounding area, or I could do one of Scotland since I took close to 4000 photos in my 17 days there. I have enough source material for both. And I want to make another calendar but this time in portrait orientation. I need to investigate that option.

Another thing I absolutely need to do in 2024 is to sell some of this gear. I mentioned using my old EF 100-400 lens this year, but it never left the house. It is time for it to go. My old Haida filter kit needs to find a new home too. I have switched over to a magnetic system and gotten away from having far too many filters. Currently, I have a polarizer, to go with a 3, 6, and 10 stop neutral density filters. And last but not least, the Leofoto tripod is out the door too. Sturdy tripod and would be great for around here, but I have four tripods and frankly need the space.

At the moment, I only have 2 trips on the books for next year, Kauai and the Lake District of England. I have been considering a trip to the Gulf Coast of Alabama for some epic sunset photos, and of course I really want to get over to North Carolina for fall colors. And yes, I am going to entertain the idea of the Texas roadtrip again.

And that's it! Here's to a great 2024!
