Football Match

Before my trip to the desert, my company hosted a family picnic at the new incarnation of Joe Davis Stadium to watch a football match. While I saw countless Huntsville Stars’ baseball games in their 30 years in the stadium, I had not been to the newly renovated Wicks Family Field. I hardly recognized it when I walked it. There were certain elements that stayed the same such as much of the seating and the press boxes, but there was so much more added. There were field level picnic areas, food and drink options, and what I felt like was a modern renovation of a stadium that was destined for the wrecking ball.

The weather wasn’t great. Thunderstorms skirted the city, lightning flashed in the distance, and at times rain lightly fell. But it never got any worse than that. The company event was great, as the always are, and I had a great time with my camera. For this outing, I was limited to a lens that was no longer than 6 inches long. So, my 100-400 was out, but it would have been too much zoom. I took the 70-200 attached to my Canon R7 and I felt like it was perfect for the most part. Perhaps the lens to take would have been the 24-240 because I certainly needed the wide angle a few times.

I’ll be back, a really fun time even if the local team lost 2-1. Here are a few photos I liked from the event.
