Broken Record

And here we are again talking about new gear! Yep, I bought a new lens, the Canon RF f4-6.3 24-240mm. I absolutely did not need it, but after a work trip and overtime hours, I did it. That being said, I bought it used which meant I saved about $300.

Anyway, the rationale behind this purchase was my upcoming trip to England/Scotland. I currently have the RF f4 24-105mm lens, but it was damaged in a tumble last September while on a photography workshop in Scotland. The damage does not affect image quality in any way, however, that wasn’t the concern. The concern was to save some space and weight in my camera bag. Instead of taking 4 lenses: 14-35, 24-105, 70-200, and the 100-400, I can now just take 3 lenses. While it is not a lightweight lens, I feel as if I can tuck it in my camera bag for a hike and only have to take 1 lens.

Before I switched to mirrorless, I had a hard time trusting any non L-series lens. It wasn’t the weather sealing, or the heavy duty build, it was the image quality. The RF lenses have amazing image quality, even the non L-series. My 35mm and 100-400, as well as the 50mm have shown me that. Enough so that I decided to give the 24-240 a space in my camera bag. Hope to have some photos to share very soon!
