End of 2024
Last year ended in a photography slump, one I couldn’t quite figure out. After returning from Scotland in early October, my mother had quadruple bypass surgery which required 24/7 care for well over a month. That was one factor, but also I was mentally exhausted from the year of work and work travel, and a whole ton of other things. That slump went on for more than 90 days.
There will be no slump this year. I’m tired from the year in work travel and vacations, and work, and household chores, but I have been in such a groove with my photography, I have not had any loss of inspiration. It’s been refreshing.
With trips to the UK, New Mexico, Kauai, and Chincoteague Island this year, I have had no problem finding stuff to photograph. Throw in a few visits to the baseball stadium, a soccer match, an outing to the botanical garden, and of course several visits to the Space and Rocket Center, I have been busy! This winter may be a challenge, but I have options. With some rain, there will be water flowing in creeks and waterfalls. And then there are birds which I love photographing, and I hope to be able to get some macro work done this winter as well.
However…. there likely will be a bit of slow down in photography in December. The blog needs to be updated - galleries and portfolio mainly. And there are several blog posts I would like to write such as 2024 favorites, 2025 calendar entries, 2024 wrap up, 2025 goals, and then there is housekeeping stuff nobody enjoys, backing up storage devices. Thankfully I have a handful of external drives and two NAS devices to handle all of that. And, I have purchased some Photoshop coursework to expand upon that ever growing capability.
2024 did not start off strong, but it is shaping up to end strong. 7 more weeks to go! Here’s a sneak peek of a favorite photo from my UK pic, more later!
