Downtown Huntsville Walk

The weather around here the past week has been amazing. We had a few lows in the high 50s overnight, and then the daytime highs were a mild high 80s and low 90s. It was so nice, and that nice weather spilled over into the weekend. Yesterday morning I met my friend Tom and his walking buddy, his chihuahua Bentley, for a 90 minute walk in Downtown Huntsville.

For the walk, I took my R5 and paired it with a new lens, the RF 24-240. The combination was just perfect for the walk, just enough wide angle to get some shots of architecture and enough of a telephoto to get some great photos of Big Spring Park ducks.

When I returned home to edit the files, I was really puzzled. Every photo had a weird band around the outer edge of the image. I tested the RAW files in other applications and it didn’t appear. And then I tried it on the Lightroom Classic on my laptop and it did not show. I was positively clueless about what could cause this image issue.

I spent far too much time online trying to find out what was causing it, YouTube and Adobe’s website revealed no clear answer or even anything close to a description of the issue. Then, this morning I tried something I had not tried before. I turned off “Enable Profile Corrections” and the issue went away. I checked my laptop, and it was turned on. So, my PC has it turned on, but it is not applying the correction. Anyway, I will send a note to Adobe to see what I can do to fix the issue, but for now it is doable since it only happens with this lens. Overall, pretty happy with the sharpness of the lens and how it handles on the R5. It will be going with me to England in October so I can minimize my bag, 3 lenses instead of 4. Here are my favorite pics from yesterday’s walk!
