Removing color casts

After my trip to Alaska, while editing, some of the photos I took in Valdez appeared to have a blue color cast. As they should, I took most of the photos there in the day time with bluebird skies. I tried a bit of everything to try to minimize the casting; desaturating the blues and tinkering with the white balance to no real satisfaction. It appeared to me, those micro-adjustments might solve one problem, but introduce another.

I came across a few YouTube videos detailing how to solve the problem, one in particular was from Anthony Morganti. His solution was to use the Tone Curve in Lightroom to solve the issue by introducing primary subtractive colors to the color of the color cast. In my case, I needed to introduce yellow to my blue color cast to remove it. Overall, I like the results, but I need to fine tune the Tone Curve adjustment because it did not take much for the blue color cast to turn yellow.

Another approach was by PiXimperfect with his Photoshop solution of using the Average function, then Invert, then switch to Overlay Blend Mode. Both approaches have shown fantastic results, now I need to re-edit the photos I think had a color cast.

The 1st photo below has a blue color cast. The 2nd photo was corrected both ways listed above, but ultimately I went with the Photoshop solution, then I used a brush to brush in a bit of blue with a white balance adjustment on the concrete. Still more to learn about color casts.
