Plan B
The plan last weekend was to visit Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve to check out their new bird blind. Apparently a hotbed for migrating birds, and that sounds like just where I want to be with my 400mm f5.6 lens. When I got there at 7am, it seems as if all of North Alabama thought the same thing. I decided not to stay as I was really just wanted to photograph, not rub elbows with other photographers. I moved on.
Despite that disappointment, I had a plan B, and that was the Tennessee River. I'm so glad I went there instead of hanging out at Chapman Preserve. There were a few Great Blue Herons, a Green Heron, a few Kingfishers (no photos), and lots of ducks and geese. I took the r5 and the r7 along with the 400mm and 100-400mm lens. I spent a solid two hours there photographing, close to 1900 photos in all. Here are my favorites from the day.
