Photographing butterflies

Is incredibly difficult!!

With my week off from work, one of the places I wanted to check out was the Huntsville Botanical Garden. I’ve been many times over the years, but not recently to seriously photograph anything. I’ve been to their holiday light show, in a car and walking through. All great fun, but never to photograph flowers and insects.

For the outing, I took my Canon R5 paired with the RF 14-35, the RF 100-400, and the RF 100mm macro lens. Other than some backyard photos, the 100mm lens hasn’t left the house. And in the end, this trip, while it was seemingly fruitful, I still have lots to learn about macro photography. I was really out of my element, but I think I managed to capture a few photos of butterflies I really liked. And, yes, I will be going back. I purchased a year membership which pays for itself after 3 visits. Anyway, here are a few of my favorites from the day.
