July’s Competition Results

The local photography club’s latest competition was last night, and I attended. The theme was “open”, which means anything goes. In the end, I received an Honorable Mention in the Black and White category for my photo of Cerro Torre in Patagonia, and nothing else for the other three photos. I honestly thought my photo of an egret with a fish in its beak would surely have garnered some praise, but it did not. Once again I felt like the judging was inconsistent. There were instances of a few images being tossed out because the highlights were a bit blown out, to another being allowed with the same issue. And there were some photos that were too heavily processed, too much texture, and some with halos around areas that were masked. Anyway, next month’s theme is “Nature in Motion” and I hope to submit 4 winning photos.

Until then, here are the 4 photos I entered.
