Back in the saddle again!
Now that I've been back from Kauai, I have been able to recover from the trip, handle lots of household/auto/life tasks, and finally get back out with my camera. The over 2 week trip to Kauai completely exhausted me, and I've been slow to recover. A 20 hour day in airplanes and airports is getting tougher and tougher to do. Anyway, this last weekend, Friday included, I made it out the door with my camera every day. I visited Madison County Nature Trail, a few Land Trust trails, Monte Sano State Park, the US Space and Rocket Center, and my first time back to Huntsville Dragway in over 10 years. It was great weekend!
I'm still working on all of the photos, including the massive amount I took in Kauai, but I thought I would start sharing some of my favorites. To start, let's start by having a look at some photos I took at a Land Trust trail in South Huntsville, the Fanning Trail.
The Fanning Trail in South Huntsville is a very quiet and not heavily visited trail off of Cecil Ashburn Drive behind the Church of the Nazarene. There is a creek that's usually dry depending on the time of the year, and few short hiking trails. In all the pictures I have seen in the past few years, the water is always flowing, but the handful of times I have stopped in to check, it's always been dry. After a few days of heavy rain, I decided it was time to revisit. Off I went with my camera, filters, and my new Sirui tripod. The creek was flowing, not raging, but enough for some photos, and then the sun came up which lead to some amazing light.
In the past, I would have shied away from photographing right into the sun, but I stuck to it and tried to find a few compositions I really liked. I think I found one I liked, and one I loved, both feature the sun and flowing water. Which one is your favorite?
