A Spell, A Rebel Yell

It feels like the right time to have another long rambling post with lots of information in it. Mostly state of the website, upcoming trips, things on mind, and whatever else I can cram into this space. I guess I should detail my upcoming trips first.

In late summer, I am headed to the El Paso, Tx area for a desert road trip. There likely won't be a ton of photography but I'm going to try, and there might be a shot at some time at White Sands National Park. I hope to get some sunset pictures there if I can make it. And then in October, I am headed back to England/Scotland to see friends in St. Andrews and then a photography workshop with Stuart McGlennon in the Lake District. My friends may join me in the Lake District, fingers crossed, for a few days leading up to my workshop. And then in late February 2025, I am headed back to the UK, this time to Scotland for a workshop with Dean Allan in Torridon. I'll likely will fly into Inverness for that trip, ask Dean to pick me up there, and do the same for the return. Dean Allan does an amazing job at workshops.

And then, to make my PTO and work folks more and more pissed at me, I am headed to the Badlands of Utah in late March with John Weatherby for a photography workshop. Lots of opportunities for photography in 2025! Shaping up to be no slump for me. I will be hard pressed to process all of my photos it seems!

The website needs updating, badly. Mostly in the galleries section. However, I may do away with the galleries and just point to Flickr, which contains all of my photos anyway. But, my portfolio needs updating. I've been re-editing photos with some new skills I have learned and I would like to get those older edits off the website. And I have to figure out how to link my website with Facebook which contains all of my (very few) followers. For some reason I hate when folks I know read my blog posts. I would rather avoid that, but need to get over it, and just start sharing my blog posts on my photography Facebook page.

About 10 years ago I had a music blog, Aimless Skylarking, in which I wrote about indie music. It lasted for close to 4 years, daily posting about indie music became taxing, but looking back, I met some great people and heard some great music. All of this was a way to get photo passes to events. I miss writing about music, and photographing music, so this may change and might get added on a page by itself.

I am going to do a huge print order soon. It is time to rotate all the photos in my house. There are some I do not like anymore, and don't understand why I liked the edit in the first place. And speaking of things I don't understand why I like, that damn Lumix point and shoot is a turd. It's not great. I really want a Sony RX100 VII, or something similar. The Lumix I bought was supposed to be a camera to test out compositions when I am out. The whole, having a camera with you all the time theory. I need to make a change in that arena soon. The Lumix will find a new home, it was cheap.

Ok, I am done for the night! Alanis Morrisette is tomorrow night in Nashville. On a work night. I will be wiped out come Monday morning, but excited to see a 90's icon, who I genuinely love!
