Results from February contests

For February, a tiny bit of disappointment was overshadowed a huge ball of excitement. My entry in FredMiranda.com's monthly assignment for "Full" did not receive a single vote. The winning entry won because it was an incredible photo, trouncing all other entrants. But, to receive not one vote for my photo titled "Birds in full flight" was a letdown because there were a few really subpar entries. However, I am slowly discovering it is a popularity contest. Anyway, moving on to March's assignment topic of "Loud", I hope to be able to have a strong entry.

For the local club's monthly contest for Cemeteries/Graveyards, I placed 1st and got an honorable mention in the digital color category for both of my photos. In the black and white category, I captured an honorable mention. I was shocked! I thought I had a strong entry, but never imagined a win and 2 honorable mentions. Next month is an open category which means it is anything goes, and I already have a few photos in mind for it.

Here are all 5 photos I entered in February with labels identifying the 1st place photo and the honorable mentions. Do you have a favorite?

1st place in Cemeteries/Graveyards — Loos Memorial, France

Honorable Mention in Cemeteries/Graveyards - Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium

Did not place in Cemeteries/Graveyards — Somewhere in Wales

Honorable Mention in Cemeteries/Graveyards in the Black and White Category — Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama

FredMiranda.com Monthly Assignment for Full — Birds in full flight, Huntsville, Alabama
