New Gear!

I had not planned to buy any new gear this year. And if I did, I was seriously considering going all in on Sony. I’ve had a few Sony cameras over the years, a NEX-5, a Sony A6000, and now a Sony A6400. Each one of those cameras floored me with their image quality, and just ease of use. Honestly, I reach for my Sony A6400 more often than my full frame Canon EOS R. The prospect of a new full frame Sony camera had me excited!

However, a sell off of lenses and camera body didn’t excite me. My Canon kit isn’t huge but selling off a body and 4 lenses proved to be a daunting process, one I didn’t want to, or have time to do. So, I decided to stick with Canon, sell my Canon EOS R, and buy the R5 and a 35mm f1.8 RF lens. I’m thrilled for the new camera body and new lens; the focus stacking in camera capability won me over.

I’ve taken a few snaps around the house and just today, I went out to a local greenway and snapped a few close up shots of some mushrooms. I’ve not had time to process the photos, but hope to soon. Spring yard work and other household chores have kept me from getting out much more than that, but hope to get out for a morning shoot this weekend if the weather holds. Now, I just need to start packing for Alaska!
