Day Trip to Seward

We didn't really have a plan for our time in Alaska. Sure, we knew we were going to spend a few nights in Anchorage, and then Denali was in the cards, but not much else was set in stone. Sometimes itineraries such as that become the best trips. This trip proved that right. On day one, we set out to explore outside of Anchorage, find a hiking trail or two, snap some photos, and enjoy a beer or three along the way.

Once on the Seward Highway, we stopped at just about every scenic viewpoint to soak in the landscape. The weather was fantastic and we just kept driving, overcome by the beauty before our eyes. Somewhere around the time we hit the Kenai peninsula, we made the decision to just go on to Seward. Seward is described as a breathtaking land shaped by glaciers, nestled between mountains and the ocean. I can't disagree with that assessment.

We only spent 2 hours in Seward, photos and lunch. Shameful, I know, but we were going north on this trip, so this excursion felt more like a photo recon. It's definitely on the list when I return. Here are a few of my favorite photos from Seward, which one is your favorite?
